CLAMPITT TOUR INFO:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The band plays so many gigs locally you need to book them in advance for
weddings, christenings, bar mitzvahs, wakes, chili cook-offs, gopher races,
rattlesnake round-ups, possum festivals, goat-ropings, beautycontests,
tough-man competitions, dwarf tossings, Mardi Gras parades, and jazz funerals.
This page lists only current dates out of town.
But Dread Clampitt do not just play local restaurants, coffeehouses, wine
bars, dance clubs, and concerts-on-the-green at places like Seaside, Gulf
Place, Baytowne Wharf, Kelly Plantation, and Downtown Carillon Beach.
They travel, to play with other hot, Southeastern bands, at places like
The Warehouse, in Tallahassee, River Retreat, at Spirit of the Suwannee
Campground, in Live Oak, JP's, in Valdosta, Springfest, in Pensacola,
and the ever-popular Bayou Americana music festival at Eden State Park
in nearby Point Washington.
When Dread Clampitt arrive, you can hear the instrument cases clicking
shut. "What is that music?" people ask. "It isnt
bluegrass, country, jazz, blues, heavy metal, Top-40, or pipi-tease disco."
Owen Saunders told Larry Gillis they were a rock-and-roll band. Larry
Gillis said, "Traditional or Alternative?" Ah, the eternal question.
Best way to answer it is go and hear them. Listen for yourself.
Battle of the bands. Bring 'em on.
